Karen Olson Johnson
Career beginnings were in public school science education with undergraduate science degrees, later followed by doctoral work in science education. Having taught science to pre-school through graduate level students, a natural progression to the development and analysis of science curriculum materials followed with work on state and national projects including the American Association for the Advancement of Science Project 2061. As developer of an elementary science program called "Hands-on, Minds-on Science," I have trained hundreds of teachers in effective and inspired science education. With speaking about environmental issues and the authoring of two books about sustainability (and winner of the Midwest Book Awards),came additional roles including the Executive Director of Northland Sustainable Solutions. Passionate about the guardianship of animals, I serve as the director of an all volunteer, Minnesota-based nonprofit working to save the rhino from extinction. As the ONEBluWorld organizational director, I assist the Co-Directors as they steward this organization into a strong cooperative media presence. Co-host of food Freedom Radio, this weekly talk show has been on for over five years and plants the seeds of change with discussions about all things food. Currently, I am the Co-Director of the Women's Congress for Future Generations.
